Where we deliver
Living Ink Bookstore delivers to residential, business and rural addresses throughout New Zealand.
International delivery is available by individual quotation, as explained below.
New Zealand shipping charges
Shipping charges are calculated and displayed at checkout before you complete your purchase.
Additional charges may apply to rural addresses. Please enter the correct rural delivery address, including the RD number, so that the appropriate charge can be calculated.
If a clear error occurs when the website calculates shipping for an unusually large or heavy order, we will contact you before dispatch. We will explain the corrected cost and ask whether you wish to proceed. If you do not wish to proceed, we will cancel the order and provide a full refund.
Local collection
Free local collection from Dunedin and Mosgiel is available by prior arrangement.
We will contact you when your order is ready and provide collection details. Please wait until you have received confirmation before collecting your order, as Living Ink Bookstore does not operate as a continuously staffed retail shop.
International delivery
International shipping is quoted individually because costs depend on the destination, parcel weight, package size and available delivery services.
Please contact us before placing your order and provide:
- The books or products you would like to order
- The quantities required
- Your full delivery address
We will package and weigh the order, obtain the available shipping costs and send you a quote. The order will proceed only after you have accepted the quote and paid the agreed product and shipping charges.
International orders may be subject to customs duties, taxes or import fees. Unless our quote specifically states that these charges are included, they are the customer’s responsibility.
International delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or overseas carrier delays.
Processing your order
We aim to prepare and dispatch in-stock orders within 2–3 working days after payment has been confirmed.
Orders are not normally processed or dispatched on weekends or New Zealand public holidays. Dispatch may take longer during busy periods, events or holiday closures. We will contact you if there is likely to be a significant delay.
Preorder and special-order products will be dispatched when they become available. Any expected availability date shown on our website is an estimate and may change because of circumstances outside our control.
Delivery estimates
After dispatch, estimated New Zealand delivery times are generally:
- Urban addresses: 3–5 working days
- Rural or remote addresses: allow up to three additional working days
These are estimates, not guaranteed arrival dates. Weather, public holidays, peak periods, carrier disruption and other circumstances outside our control may cause delays.
Current service information can be found on the NZ Post domestic delivery updates page.
Tracking
Where tracking is available, we will send the tracking details to the email address supplied with your order.
Tracking information may take several hours to appear after a parcel has been collected or lodged with the delivery provider.
Correct delivery information
Please check your name, delivery address, postcode, email address and telephone number carefully before completing your order.
If you notice an error, contact us immediately. We will correct the delivery information if the order has not already been dispatched.
If an order is returned because the customer supplied an incorrect or incomplete address, did not collect the parcel or did not respond to the delivery provider, we will contact the customer to arrange either:
- Redelivery, with the additional delivery cost paid by the customer; or
- A refund for the returned products, less the original delivery charge and any reasonable return-to-sender costs.
These deductions will not apply where the delivery problem was caused by Living Ink Bookstore or the delivery provider, or where doing so would be inconsistent with the customer’s rights under New Zealand law.
Split deliveries
We will normally hold an order until all items are ready to be dispatched together.
If part of an order is significantly delayed, we may offer to send the available items separately. We will discuss this with you and obtain your agreement before applying any additional delivery charge.
Delayed or missing orders
If your parcel has not arrived within a reasonable period after its estimated delivery date, please contact us at dunedinbooks1@gmail.com and include your order number.
We will follow up with the delivery provider and keep you informed. You do not need to resolve a missing delivery directly with the courier. Where Living Ink Bookstore arranged the delivery, we remain responsible for addressing delivery problems until the order reaches you.
Further information is available from Consumer Protection New Zealand.
Damaged deliveries
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible and provide, where possible:
- Your order number
- A description of the damage
- Photographs of the parcel, packaging and damaged products
Please retain the packaging while we investigate the issue, if it is practical to do so, as the delivery provider may request it when assessing a claim.
We will arrange an appropriate remedy in accordance with our Returns and Refunds Policy and your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Consumer rights
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand law.
