Demons and Politics

This monograph analyses Mark's portrayal of exorcism from a political perspective. It argues that Mark saw in Jesus' exorcisms a symbolic demonstration of the cleansing of the people. Rather than subscribing to the cosmological dualism of his day, Mark used this language to represent the spiritual and political state of the people.
